For movement sensing I decided to use a PIR sensor (Passive Infra-red) which, according to the manual, operates with pyro-electrics sensors showing maximum effect at 37°C (body temperature). So, we should be able to distinguish healthy humans from something, like, cold watermelons.
The try out mostly consisted of detection on various ranges and interference tests with lighting.
1. it works within the range of 3 cm. till 5 m.
2. TL lighting does not interfere.
specs:
- size of a windows thumbnail
- uses something within 3 till 12 volts and 20mA (instant Arduino plug and play)
- outputs are analog or digital by Open-Collector
- optional LDR’s for environment sensing
